Intent Mismatch

Intent mismatch refers to pages ranking for adjacent topics. MarketMuse helps you identify these opportunities to create new content.

Identifying Intent Mismatch

  1. Intent Mismatch List: Items with the highest potential traffic appear at the top of the list.
  2. Business Alignment Check: Assess each item in the list to determine its continued importance and priority regarding your business goals.

Evaluation Process

  1. Topic Analysis: Analyze each topic to determine if it’s a:
    • Direct Match: The topic is the main focus of the URL. Continue optimizing your page for this topic to maintain relevance.
    • Adjacent Topic: The topic is related to, but not the primary focus of, the top-ranking URL. Create a new page.
  2. Assess Cluster: Click the “Assess Cluster” icon in the action bar to check for competing pages.

Create a New Page

Go back to All Inventory. Click the Optimize Page & Topic icon in the Action Bar to send it to Optimize. 

  • Remove the URL from the search bar in Optimize
  • Remove the contents of the page from the editor so you can start fresh.

Growth Opportunities

Growth Opportunities are topics with good Topic Authority and low Personalized Difficulty.MarketMuse helps you identify these opportunities to create new content.
