Assess Clusters

There are 4 types of recommendations in this category; Authority Growth Opportunities, Awareness Stage Clusters, Consideration Stage Clusters, and Decision Stage Clusters.

Authority Growth Opportunities

Authority Growth Opportunities refers to high-ranking and high-authority topics. MarketMuse helps you identify these opportunities to improve cluster performance by updating related pages.

Identifying Authority Growth Opportunities

  1. Authority Growth Opportunities List: Topics with the greatest potential traffic gain appear at the top of the list.
  2. Business Alignment Check: Assess each item in the list to determine its continued importance and priority regarding your business goals.

Evaluation Process

Think of each item in the list as a potential cluster. The broadest topics are likely to have the biggest cluster, so it’s best to focus on those.

  1. Determine what pages make up the cluster: Click the Assess Clusters icon. It will analyze your site to determine the 20 most semantically related pages to that subject.
  2. Evaluate each page against its specific subject: Run each page through Optimize using the subject of the page as its topic. Evaluate the Content Score and Word Count and make adjustments where necessary.

 Awareness/Consideration/Decision Stage Clusters

These stages refer to topics that indicate a certain position in the marketing funnel. Although there are 3 distinct recommendation list, they all incorporate the same workflow. MarketMuse helps you identify these opportunities to optimize existing pages and create new content.

Identifying Awareness/Consideration/Decision Stage Clusters

  1. Stage List: items with the lowest Personalized Difficulty appear at the top of the list.
  2. Business Alignment Check: Assess each item in the list to determine its continued importance and priority regarding your business goals.

Evaluation Process

  1. Topic Analysis: Analyze each topic to determine if it’s a:
    • Direct Match: The topic is the main focus of the top-ranking URL. Continue optimizing your page for this topic to maintain relevance.
    • Adjacent Topic (Expand): The topic is related to, but not the primary focus of, the top-ranking URL. You have the following choices:
      • Enhance your existing page with a paragraph or section thoroughly covering the adjacent topic.
      • Create a new page
  2. Assess Cluster: Click the “Assess Cluster” icon in the action bar to check for competing pages.

Optimize or Expand

Go back to All Inventory. Click the Optimize Page & Topic icon in the Action Bar to send it to Optimize so you can:

  • Optimize the page for the chosen topic, or
  • Add a paragraph or section. Use the topic model to ensure you create a comprehensive section, ignoring the Content Score and Word Count targets.
