Understanding the Start Page

What is the Start Page and what information does it display?

The MarketMuse Start Page is a dashboard that provides users with a comprehensive overview of their content strategy and optimization opportunities within the MarketMuse platform. It displays various workflows and insights to help users improve their content quality and organic search performance.

How do I use the Start Page?

There are three key areas on the Start Page. Select a Workflow allows you to choose from various content optimization tasks. Recommendations offers tailored suggestions for improving your content strategy. Documents shows your list of Cluster Analysis, Planning, Content Briefs, and Writing documents. Can I customize the Start Page?

Yes, enter a topic in the search bar to customize your experience. Select workflows will be available for that topic, as will the recommendations, and list of documents.

How can I search for specific content or topics within MarketMuse?

You can find specific topics in MarketMuse by using the search bar and typing in the full or partial name of the topic. You can also create a filter based on the topic.

What types of information can I search for?

There are dozens of data points, including topic Personalized Difficulty and Topic Authority, for which you can search using filters. See How to Create a Filter (Inventory).

Are there any advanced search options available?

You can create complex searches by filtering for any combination of data points available in the platform. Filters can be used to include or exclude data and contain sophisticated conditions. They can be saved for re-use as part of a Saved View. See Views Overview.

What is the main menu and how do I access it?

The sidebar functions as the main menu in MarketMuse. Depending on where you are in the platform, another menu may be available across the top of the screen, right beneath the search bar.

How do I access the settings or preferences in MarketMuse?

Click on the gear icon near the top of the sidebar, then select “Settings”. See Account Management in our Knowledge Base for more details.

Using the Sidebar

What is the sidebar and what information does it contain?

The sidebar allows you to navigate to various places in the platform, including the Start Page, Inventory, Documents, Tags, and Applications.

How can I expand or collapse the sidebar?

The sidebar is fixed and cannot be expanded or collapsed. However, you can scroll up or down the sidebar, if your screen size doesn’t accommodate its entire height.

Inventory is where you can find opportunities to create new content and optimize existing pages. Documents contains all your Content Analysis, Planning, Content Briefs, and Writing. Applications enables you to research topics, create new content, and optimize existing pages. +Create Document allows you to create the documents mentioned previously.

Understanding Tooltips and Help Text

What are tooltips and how do they help me understand MarketMuse features?

Tooltips are small, informative messages that appear when you hover your mouse cursor over a specific element on the platform. If you see an “i” or “?” click to get a quick and easy explanation of the element’s function or purpose. By using tooltips, you can quickly learn about new features, understand complex concepts, and navigate the MarketMuse platform more efficiently.

Where can I find additional help or documentation within MarketMuse?

In addition to tooltips, there’s the MarketMuse Academy, Knowledge Base, and platform walkthroughs. You can access this all by clicking the big blue and white “?” on the upper right hand side of your screen.
